News: More good news for home heating oil users!
8th December 2014 (last updated: 8th December 2014)
Great news continues for oil fired heating users and again, we are advising all of our members and visitors to this site to fill up their oil tanks now before the impending cold weather inevitably drives prices up and extends delivery times.
The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has stated that overall, the prices for gas and electricity increased between October 2013 and October 2014, a trend that we see continuing, whereas prices for home heating oil have significantly decreased during the same period. Reductions in demand of oil globally have not been matched by a reduction in production by OPEC member countries, which is good news for all of us using kerosene (standard domestic heating oil) to warm our homes and to do our cooking!
The DECC statistics show that;
* Domestic electricity prices, including VAT, rose by 5.6 per cent between October 2013 and October 2014.
* Domestic gas prices, including VAT, increased by 5.1 per cent between October 2013 and October 2014.
* The price of liquid, home heating fuels fell by 13.9 per cent between October 2013 and October 2014. (And are continuing to do so!)
(* There was an increase in the price of solid fuels, which rose by 3.0 per cent between October 2013 and October 2014.)
